A few of my favourite things

I wanted to start sharing with you all some of my favourite things I use day to day. Some items are just for fun, some help me in my daily struggles with IBS.

This month I am loving these three things…

Avoin Stainless Steel water bottle

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!!

It’s so important to stay hydrated, which is also vital in helping maintain a good digestive system. I’m very guilty of not drinking enough water, therefore I need something pretty to carry around with me to encourage me to drink. I now officially take this bottle everywhere with me. To work, to the gym, in the car – you get the jist. This bottle is stainless steel on both this inside and out, it’s non-leaching and it’s toxin free. It’s also rust and leak proof.

I picked the bottle in a very attractive turquoise colour and I’ve received many compliments on it. What I love about the bottle is, it keep drinks cold for up to 12 hours and hot for up to 24 hours. I haven’t tested it to see if it can keep your drink hot for that long but it did keep mind hot for a good couple of hours without feeling hot on the outside of the bottle. But be careful and remember you put a hot drink in it!

Another little bonus is you get no condensation when you’ve filled it with cold water.

My bottle arrived very quickly and came in a high quality cardboard box, whats even more perfect is that it fits into my cup holder in my car.

I bought mine at a very affordable price here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Double-Walled-Vacuum-Insulated-Stainless/dp/B00XWBEC26

Aromatherapy Associates – deep relax balm

I love the smell of aromatherapy oil that you get when walking into a spa or a treatment room, I associate it with relaxation. But let’s be honest, it’s not exactly convient or cheap booking into a spa everyday. So I welcome this portable balm for it’s ease and convienience to use.

I find morning particularly stressful for me as it’s when my IBS is most likely to flare up, so I rub this balm onto my wrists in the morning before work and pop into my handbag just in case I feel the need for some on the go.

It is by no means a cure and I often use it alongside some relaxation techniques in the morning but I figure if I as I associate the smell with calm and relaxation, this helps to comfort me and gives me a little confidence to start my day.

It’s a tiny little pot but you don’t need to rub much on to get the effects, I reckon this little pot should last me quite some time.

Eteaket Peppermint Tea

Oh how I love to support local! And what better way to do it by sipping on some comforting peppermint tea bought from a lovely little tea shop in Edinburgh. I am forever drinking peppermint tea as I find it so soothing on my sensitive tum and have tried many different brands of peppermint tea. When I was gifted this one from a friend, I couldn’t wait to try it out and it is by far my new favourite peppermint tea.

Eteaket is well known name in Edinburgh selling their teas around the city and they also have a tea room. A FODMAP review of the tea room can be found here. All of their tea that they sell is ethically sourced. You can also buy the tea online on their website. I’m looking forward to trying out some more of the flavours they have to offer, but for now I’m delighted with my peppermint tea.

I have both a stainless steel water bottle and a stainless steel thermos–which I’m about to fill with peppermint tea, believe it or not. I love how they’re toxin-free but also not breakable. I’m guilty of dropping my water bottle pretty often. : P
