It feels like June had flown in, it’s been such a busy month! I’ve been settling into Edinburgh and have fallen in love with the city so much. I’ve also been busy catching up with friends, making new friends, starting out at a new yoga class (which I love) and trying out some new recipes!
Here are a few other things I’m loving right now…
Cowshed – calming pillow mist
Without a good night sleep I am one grumpy person! But not only that, it majorly affects my ibs, causing it to flare up. I’ve always been a really light sleeper and am forever looking for new ways to get a decent sleep. When my sister bought me this as a gift, I couldn’t wait to try it out.
It’s made up of essential oils – lemon, myrtle, melissa and valerian – which makes it so different to traditional lavender based sprays, and it smells so delicious! I spray it on my pillow each night before I go to sleep, the smell so relaxing – which is always good for those suffering with ibs. It definitely helps knock me out into a deeper sleep, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Another added bonus is this little bottle has lasted me ages too!

Gut Health Empire
Social media has been amazing for helping me come to terms with my IBS. I have met so many amazing, supportive people through it who have helped me realise I am not alone on this journey. When I came across the Gut Health Empire group on Facebook, I was delighted to meet so many like minded people who knew exactly what I was going through. It’s a great place for people to share stories, recipes, words of wisdom and sometimes there are lots of virtual shoulders to cry on when you’re not having the best of days. But most of all, it’s a fun and positive community, aiming to break the taboo of gut health, helping to raise awareness and most of all showing people that there’s a great support network out there.
I know social media has its flaws, but I’m so grateful to have such a fab network of people at my fingertips.
I’ve spoken about this app quite a few times now, but it really is a wonderful source of calm stored in my phone. We all know how worked up and anxious IBS can get you at times and this is where I find Headspace so great. Practicing mindful meditation leads to peace of mind and better well-being. I find this app particularly useful in the morning as this is when my IBS flares up the most. It’s great for calming me through deep breathing techniques . You can use this app on the go and there are different sessions to suit your mood and lifestyle. You also have control over how long you’d like the session to be. If you haven’t tried mindful meditation – I’d highly recommend it. It’s my savior sometimes. What have you got to lose?
