Self Care #5 – The Really Good Box

So I’ve reached my final self care review of my five week series and I have to say I’ve really enjoyed it. I have realised how little time I usually take for myself, to switch off and de-stress. But I have learned that I want to carry on practising different methods of self care going forward. Sometimes, I think I’m chilling out and switching off but this usually involves scrolling through my social media. This totally doesn’t constitute taking time out. If you would like to check out my other self care posts you can find them at the links below.

Self Care #3 – The Salt Parlour

Self Care #4 – The FODMAP Friendly Tea Co.

My final week is definitely right up my street. The Really Good Box is a vegan, cruelty-free subscription box and was set up by Hannah who came up with the concept as she was trying to deal with anxiety and finding ways to improve health with self care for herself – yup, exactly what I’ve been looking for.

The Really Good Box is dedicated to sourcing vegan, cruelty free and ethical products that provide alternatives to the items that you would usually source in everyday shops. The items will be a mixture of gifts ranging from food to household and well being. The box is made from 100% recycled material and is recyclable and the packing filler is 100% recyclable & biodegradable. Even better, a proportion of the cost is donated to Depaul UK, a charity that helps people that are homeless. I love the idea behind this part as it is going towards a great cause.

Upon receiving the box, I could tell straight away that there has been ALOT of thought put into this box.

I was sent the August box which was named ‘The Cat and Cow Box’. As you can see from the picture I received a lovely cat and cow card, and the little message I received from Hannah made it feel really personal.

A welcome sheet describing each product is sent in the box, which I thought went over and above the needs of a subscription box – great touch!

For some of the items, you also received a leaflet and/or booklet which really enables you to get to know the mission behind the products.

Cat & Cow Poses Yoga Card

Each box contains a yoga pose for you to practice and collect and it runs in the theme of the box. On the back of the card it runs you through each pose and discusses the benefits of the pose. As I adore yoga – this has gone up on my wall as it’s a gorgeous card.

Karma Cola

It wasn’t until I read the booklet that I was sent with this when I realised I drink their Gingerella ginger beer and I love it! When I tried out the Cola I was delighted that a fizzy drink that’s as healthy as it can be tasted so lovely. The Karma Cola Foundation works with people in Sierra Leone. Part of the proceeds from each drink go to cola growers’ families. The booklet breaks down exactly what is in the drink – it looks to be FODMAP friendly and I had to ill effects from it – winner!

The Mindfulness Companion – A Creative Journal

Ok, so this has to be my favourite part of the box. I love mindfulness colouring in books, but this one is a cut above the rest. It comes with lovely quotes, words of encouragement, challenges and spaces to write down different thoughts. A nice little bit of happiness in the box. It is also worth £9.99 so you are getting a bargain in this box.

Biona Organic Smooth Peanut Butter

I must have timed receiving this box well. Peanut butter is one of my favourite things and even more so when it’s made with no additives and no palm fat.

Raw Health Fruity Coconut Balls

I’ve tried these many times before and love them. Although not totally FODMAP friendly, they’re delicious and if you tolerate dates well then they are perfect for snacking.

Kookie Cat Cookie

In keeping with the cat theme is a vegan version of an old fashioned cookie. I have to admit I wasn’t a huge fan of the taste but that was just personal preference.

Vita Coco Coconut Oil

It wasn’t until I received the box that I learned Vita Coco are committed to raising 1 million people in coconut farming communities out of poverty. I always use coconut oil, so was delighted to receive this and even happier knowing more about Vita Coco.

Friendly Soap Shampoo Bar

I’ve tried a few natural shampoo bars before and as lovely as this one smelled it just didn’t agree with my hair at all. I loved the concept of it but it just wasn’t for me.

Urtekram Organic Rose Condition Sachets

Perfect for travelling or on the go, these sachets smelled lovely and were a lovely natural treat for my hair!

If you’re looking for a self care subscription box that is so carefully thought through and supports a vegan, eco-friendly lifestyle whilst also supporting charities then this is the box for you.International shipping is available and each box is £20 and if you prepay for 3, 6 or 12 months you can save up to £20! You can buy here.

Self care - The really good box

I personally loved the box and found it a great pick me up with a great combination of products. I would also happily gift it to someone else.
