Self Care #2 – Box By Lucy
If you’re looking for a luxury way to treat yourself or someone else, then look no further than Box by Lucy. I received the most gorgeous bespoke pamper box, and it immediately picked up my mood, just by opening such a beautifully packaged box. It is absolutely perfect for practising some self care.
Box by Lucy is a gift box service using products crafted in the U.K from independent businesses. Lucy has ensured that all of the beauty products only contain natural ingredients and all edible items that are stocked are 100% natural. You can buy Nesting (new home), Pamper, Little Bird (baby) and Letter Box Love boxes either for yourself or as a gift to someone else. I don’t know about you, but when I’m not feeling my best and am stuck in the house, nothing is nicer than receiving a little gift in the post. This is so much more personal than receiving a text or something similar. It means you can really take some time out from everything and practise some self care.
Before I review the products in my bespoke pamper box, here are some words from Lucy herself:
“I have also been on a journey over the past few years too and as a result set about changing my lifestyle and self care became an important part of those changes. Leading me to try acupuncture (now an avid fan!) yoga, sound meditation and counselling along with looking at all aspects of our lives including our diet and the chemicals etc we are exposed to through not only our food but cosmetics and cleaning products and trying to find a more balanced approach to work/life has been an invaluable part of my journey and one which helped to lead to setting up Box by Lucy.
We are really passionate about supporting creative talent and have carefully sourced all of the items in our gift boxes from small independent businesses and makers and all products are proudly made here within the UK. It felt important when setting up Box by Lucy to create boxes filled with thoughtful gifts that would be cherished and enjoyed when we live in an ever increasing “disposable / wear/ use once culture”. We wanted to break away from that and create something truly special. (Prior to setting up Box by Lucy I worked in the fashion industry for over ten years and have first hand experience of this and of mass production in the Far East and really wanted to move away from this and to something more authentic).
It is also important to our ethos that when purchasing items for our pamper boxes that we chose beauty products which don’t contain nasty/ harmful chemicals and are as natural as possible and organic where possible. The same goes for the food items we stock. We like to make sure our suppliers share our passion to provide high quality products, which are not only enjoyable but are good for you too.
We want to make giving beautiful and unique gifts as easy and stress-free as possible, especially when everyone has less and less time with more and more demands, meaning that it just isn’t always possible to spend the time searching for that special gift in lots of different locations but you still want to send something personal and thoughtful. As well as our range of gift boxes we offer a bespoke gift box service so you can create something truly unique for the recipient.
We would like to be part of reviving sending good old-fashioned post too! In this digital world, it is lovely to receive a beautiful parcel in the post; be that a small gift to say hello or a gift box full of delights. There’s just something so exciting and thrilling in receiving a surprise, knowing that someone has thought of you. Something that sending an email can’t quite compare to. This was especially true when I was very unwell at the end of last year and some dear friends sent me a parcel in the post, it really lifted my spirits and in turn lead me on the path of creating Box by Lucy so I could create the same for others.”
As I said at the start of this post, my bespoke pamper box contained lots of lovely relaxation products to help me practice some self care. Luckily, I received my box in the midst of a flare up, so it couldn’t be better timed.
The box itself is stunning and wrapped in a lovely bow. When opened the products and are sitting on a bed of grey recyclable paper. My boxed contained the following:
Niche Tea – Rooibos Herbal Infusion SLEEP – I’m a big fan of herbal tea and always willing to try new ones out and this one is delicious. It’s made with Rooibos, Chamomile, Lemon Balm, Passion Flower, Rose Petals, Vanilla and Lavender. Dreamy flavours to send you towards a blissful sleep. I absolutely loved the colours of the packaging too.
Stephie Ann – Lavender Silk Eyemask – I’m not exaggerating when I say, I’ve worn this eye mask every night since I received it and I’ve slept like a baby. I even wore it travelling in a car on the way back from Ireland. I pretty much slept the whole way and I NEVER manage to sleep while travelling. It’s a gorgeous scent and lovely pattern, the silk is so nice to wear too.
The Oil Hut – Quiet Night body, bath and massage oil – This oil is made from chamomile, rose and lavender and smells gorgeous. You can add this to your bath or massage onto your body after showering. I chose to add it to my bath and it made my bath smell lovely. Perhaps it is a placebo affect but I found I felt much more relaxed after my bath. Even if it is a placebo affect, I felt relaxed and calmer and that’s what I’m looking for.
Meraki Buddah Greeting Card – This beautifully crafted greeting card has been left blank and I could send it on to someone but for now it’s hanging up on my bedroom wall. It very pretty.
Sweet Cecily’s Vanilla Body Butter – Made from natural ingredients whilst smelling so delicious you almost want to eat it is always a winner from me. I have been using this in the morning and have been smelling like Vanilla almost all day – Winner!
Sweet Cecily’s Soothing Bath Infusions – This was something I’d never tried before, the bath infusions look a bit like large tea bags and you place them in the bath while it’s running. I found this one had a bit of a different smell to it. It is made up from Oatmeal and Chamomile but I loved the chamomile smell and found it really relaxing.
I genuinely can’t express how well packaged and gorgeous my box was. It immediately picked up my mood and the products are what I would call luxury. Having looked through Box by Lucy’s website there are lots of lovely different gift ideas to purchase as a pick me up, or for someone else who would appreciate it. My bespoke box came in at £75 and you can request different levels of bespoke boxes. There are a variety of pamper boxes already made up at a range of different prices that you can also purchase here.
Although I’m reviewing the pamper boxes, I’m also a big fan of the Letter Box Love Boxes too and I think these would also make a great gift for a friend in need of a little pick me up.
