Fodilicious – Fresh low FODMAP Convenience Meals

A bit about Fodilicious

Fodilicious have created something I’ve been waiting for for a LONG time. Freshly prepared, low FODMAP, gluten free and dairy free, handmade, convenience meals with vegan and vegetarian options. Yes, that’s right, you heard me. You’re not going to have to cook from scratch every single night anymore.

Fodilicious is a new FODMAP friendly meal company and have nailed it when it comes to making tasty low FODMAP convenience food. Up until now, I’ve never found a fresh food company that have meals that don’t include onion and garlic. Fodilicious kindly sent me five of their meals to try out from their range. The meals are hand cooked using premium Scottish produce and they deliver throughout the UK. It’s really simple. You choose which meals you would like on their website, and they are freshly cooked to order in the Fodilicious Kitchen. They are then delivered on your chosen delivery day (in an insulated cool box). You then just have to reheat your meals, and enjoy!

All of the Fodilicious recipes have been approved by a qualified dietician who specialises in IBS and the low FODMAP diet. The FODMAP Friendly team in Australia have also approved all of the recipes too. Their packaging is biodegradable and recyclable and the trays use 30% less materials than other meal trays on the market.

My review

For me, having FODMAP friendly convenience food now and again is so helpful. I live a busy life, and whilst I now understand most of the foods that I can and can’t tolerate. I can only tolerate garlic and onion in very small amounts meaning I still need to cook from scratch every night. Knowing that there is a company out there that can help me now and again, to give me some time off cooking is music to my ears.

Fodilicious sent me their Penne Arrabiata, Spanish Bravas Chicken, Thai Green Vegetable Curry, Spaghetti Bolognese and Chicken Tikka Masala. I have to say I was most excited about receiving the curry’s as this is something I really miss and struggle to make myself.

Penne Arrabiata

This is something I “try” to make on a regular basis, it’s a simple tasty dish. Fodilicious have created a lovely version, it definitely wasn’t short on flavour. I must admit, this one lacked a little sauce but I have since spoken to their team and they have now rectified this. I was worried the pasta would dry out when heating this through but it was perfect

Spanish Bravas Chicken

I’ve never tried to make this dish before so I was quite excited when this one arrived. Most convenience food tends to be served with rice or pasta so it was quite refreshing to have roasted potatoes at the side. It was a really nice flavoursome meal and it had a lovely smokey flavour. I actually popped this dish in the freezer and wondered if it would reheat ok and there were absolutely no issues at all. I’d definitely order this dish again.

Thai Green Vegetable Curry

This was without doubt one of my favourite meals that I received. I do love Thai food and when it comes to Thai, I usually opt for a red curry over a green. But I think Fodilicious have changed my mind. This dish was absolutely full of fragrant flavours and had a great selection of vegetables in it too. It hit the spot perfectly. I think this one is going to become a new regular for me.

Spaghetti Bolognese

This is another dish that I popped in the freezer when I received it. I was concerned about how the gluten free pasta would reheat, but again it was absolutely fine. I think we all know that Spag Bol is usually made with lots of garlic and onion and it’s something that has to be cooked from scratch for someone who struggles with these food items. Fodiicious have created a lovely version of this. I would say there wasn’t a huge difference between this and the real thing. Perfect served with a glass of red…

Chicken Tikka Masala

This was my other favourite meal that I received. Like I said at the start I was mainly excited about receiving the curries as it’s something I really miss. This one did not disappoint at all. It was FULL of flavour and definitely satisfied my curry craving. You could tell the meat was good quality and perfectly fresh too. Don’t hesitate to order this one!

I’m excited to see a new range of FODMAP friendly convenience foods. It’s great to see products that can fit everyones needs, and these meals cover this. Why should we miss out on convenience food just because we have intolerances? These meals can lend an hand during busy times, during flare ups (when you have zero energy!) and I think there a great idea for when your friends get together for a takeaway and you know you can’t eat it.
