Self Care #4 – The FODMAP Friendly Tea Co.

If you’ve been reading my self care series on my blog you will see that I’ve been giving myself time out to sample different self care products. I’m doing this in the hope of reducing stress and anxiety as a result of suffering from IBS-D.

I have to admit, I’m really glad I’ve taken on this task, as it has forced me to take more time out than I usually would. I’m pretty certain it’s something I’m now going to make a point of doing each week. I’m really starting to enjoy the benefits.

This week, on my self care post I’m reviewing something a little different. You can reach my other posts here….#1, #2, #3 have required a little bit off effort and preparation (pretty much just running a bath or a shower). However, this one is for when I simply want some time out, preferably with a movie or some Netflix, and to curl up with my YuYu.

On the FODMAP diet, not all herbs are low in FODMAPs (I really struggle with Chai and apple in herbal teas) so The FODMAP Friendly Tea Co have come up with a great range of teas, suitable for sensitive tums. These teas are blended and packaged in Australia but can be shipped worldwide. They are aslo the only tea company in the world to be tested by the FODMAP friendly government accredited program.

I received ‘Aussie Jem’ (Organic Lemon Myrtle & Australian Green Tea), ‘Grace’ (Ginseng Flowers, Lemon Myrtle, Lemongrass and Peppermint), ‘Eminta’ (Peppermint, Spearmint and Catnip). All interesting combinations that I hadn’t tried out before. All of these products came with a fillable teabag, which I thought was fab idea. That way, you can add in as little or as much as you like.

After testing them out, I think my favourite had to be ‘Grace’. I’m a big lover of Lemongrass and Peppermint, however the other two flavours were lovely too. It was actually really nice making a point of switching off from social media, pouring a cuppa and snuggling up with my YuYu. While at the same time soothing my tum. I’ve tried lots of herbal teas – yes I’m a tea geek – but these were a welcomed new product to try. It was nice trying out different combinations of flavours knowing that you aren’t going to suffer any negative effects. You can purchase these teas here.

Ooh, thanks for sharing this. I like fruity teas but get a bit overwhelmed when checking the ingredients for fodmaps. I’ll give these a try!
